Last night, while I was out with my boyfriend smoking (well, he was.. I don't smoke), I witnessed a shooting star. I had my eyes locked onto the starry night skies, as though cross-examining the constellation, and that was when it happened - a meteor flashed and my body shivered, it was nothing short of mesmerizing.
As soon as I woke up today, I hopped onto my laptop to pen down my estranged thoughts. Did you ever have a nightmare that - despite knowing your worst fears are being realized in your sub-consciousness - taught you a valuable lesson as soon as you put everything into perspective?
That was what happened.
I knew the first thing I had to do was post what I've learned from this insane nightmare that had me dream-depressed, before it drifted off into the back of my mind as I got on with my day.
For almost half my life now, I have attempted to defy culture and balance my affiliation with beliefs from all across the world. Granted I've only ever been or visited Australia, Canada, America and Singapore but the hierarchy of my diversity goes way beyond countries I have explored.
I mean, my best friend is Scottish, and I absolutely love her.
My boyfriend is waking up now, so it's time to wrap this up.
If there's anything I've learned from falling into a petrifying slumber, it is that I shouldn't focus on what I lack, rather, what I have and can make the most out of. Sure, I may not have access to certain luxuries and conveniences that I once had back home since life here is much more simpler, but I have a boyfriend who loves me (and in the grand scheme of life, we're all seeking companionship). All I have to do is "adapt" and forgo all unnecessary procrastination and/or contemplation.
Sometimes all it takes is a little detachment from the material world and into the spiritual realm to gain a little insight.
